I love my parents, but…
So I’ve been very fortunate this summer to be living at school and not at home because as they (and us) get slightly older, my parents have gone slightly crazy and with only my 22 year old sister at home, well it’s been a little nuts. They harass her about who she’s hanging out with, she has a curfew, and gave her a lot of grief about going to New Orleans for the July 4th weekend with her friends she’s known since high school.
I know they’re doing their parental duties by ensuring our safety, but my sister and I have never been arrested, never done drugs, never been in debt and in general really good kids our entire lives. At ages 21 and 22, shouldn’t it be time for them to relax a bit? We’re pretty much “raised.” When is it appropriate for parents to just let their kids….be? It just seems absurd to spend 10 months of the year able to come and go as I please and not be trusted by my own parents.
